Industrial Estates

Alava has a wide offer of industrial floor space promoted by both the Diputación Foral (Provincial Council) as well as by the various urban and rural town councils.

The offer of floor space promoted by the Diputación is made through the society ALAVA AGENCIA DE DESARROLLO, S.A. (Alava Development Agency) and includes 3.000.000 m2 spread over the whole province in industrial estates at Araia, Casablanca, Gojain, Jundiz, Lantarón, Murga, Nanclares and Santa Cruz. These industrial estates are urbanised and have electricity, natural gas and water supplies and purification.

The Diputación is also involved in making industrial units available for small and medium-sized companies, via the Elkartegiak and Industrialdeak. In both cases this deals with modular buildings which include a range of common services and industrial premises of varying sizes. There are currently two elkartegiak (Araya y Llodio) and eight industrialdeak (Ayala, Salvatierra, Amurrio, Nanclares, Campezo, Laguardia, Llodio and Legutiano).

Alava Technology Park

The Alava Technology Park, located only 5 km. from Vitoria-Gasteiz, offers an unsurpassable framework for housing businesses characterised by their use of advanced technologies, development of innovations or intensive R+D activities.

Its preferred sectors of activity are: aeronautics, energy, telecommunications, environmental technology, electronics, industrial automation, agro-alimentation, new materials, information technology, opto- electronics and social welfare technology.

The Park is situated in a privileged spot. As more than half of its 117 hectares of surface area have been given over to wooded and green areas. The urbanisation has been carried out with aesthetics in mind and with respect to the environment.

Alava Technology Centre

The Technology Centre is situated within the Technology Park and is made up of the Technology Development Centre LEIA and the centres for Energy and Aeronautic Technologies.

The Technology Development Centre LEIA, which has recently been accorded Training Centre status within the Basque Government's Technology Network, is concentrating its efforts on environmental research, although it also offers technological services in other areas in connection with testing and quality assurance.

The Aeronautical Technology Centre focuses its work on carrying out validity and behaviour tests for structures and interiors of aircraft.

For their part the Energy Technologies Centre are soon to start research work in areas such as acclimatisation, combustion, alternative energy, energy in productive processes and comfort within buildings.

Alava Business and Innovation Centre (CEIA)

The Alava Business and Innovation Centre (CEIA), at its new location within the Alava Technology Park, helps new enterprises to develop their projects. This assistance focuses on two areas: consultancy and logistics. On the consultancy side, CEIA collaborates in project feasibility studies and guides studies in the technical, production, commercial and financial areas in the right direction. On the logistics side, CEIA offers its installations, buildings, offices and other central services which will allow projects to get off the ground.

The CEIA is a centre approved by the European Union and integrated into the European Community Business & Innovation Centre (BIC).

Vitoria Transport Centre (CTV)
